Djanet or Ganat, is a town in the province of Illizi in Algeria.

It is an oasis and is the major South East city of the Algerian Sahara, located 2300 km from Algiers near the border with Libya and near the Libyan oasis of Ghat.

The town is populated essentially Tuaregs Ajjers (or Azjar). Djanet is the capital of Tassili n'Ajjer with a population of about 10,000 inhabitants.

The oasis of Djanet is relatively rich in water and therefore an important vegetable growing has developed. The palm grove 30,000 palms obviously produces dates, but most vegetables (potatoes, beets, tomatoes ...) and fruits (olives, citrus ...) necessary to the local economy.
